Sharpen an Image

Perhaps one of the more popular features in Picasa or any Photo Editing software, sharpen really brings out the detail in an image. If you are taking photos for a high school project, or you’re just taking pictures as a hobby, you might not like how an image comes out for example. Picasa makes it very easy to sharpen an image to your liking and if you are still unhappy with it, you can always use other options that are associated with Picasa. First, please open the software and wait for it to load up. Once you have done all of that, move on to the next step.

Once you have gone through all of your images and have chosen whichever one(s) you have chosen, double click the one you want and move onto the next step. You will see a blue rectangular highlight around your image that will tell you that you have selected that particular image.

Once you have double clicked your image, you will come across another window. It might take a few seconds before it pops up. The “Basic Fixes” window will allow you to edit all aspects of your image. Go over to the left part of the window, right next to your image, and click on the “Effects” tab. You will see a bunch of different options in this tab, but we will only click the “Sharpen” tab. All of the edges of your photo might be a little distorted or they might be a little blurry, this option will make your photo a lot sharper and you will definitely notice the difference.

Once you have figured out how much sharpness you want your image to have, you may go back to the original screen.
