Remove Red Eye from an Image

The dreaded Red Eye, everyone or mostly everyone hates to see this in their images or pictures. Whether you or your friends think it looks haunting or creepy, some people actually do not mind the Red Eye that occurs after your take a picture with flash, but if you are one of the millions that hate it, you can follow this tutorial to remove it.

First things first, please open up Google Picasa. You will see your database of images that you have imported from your folders. Once you have searched through your database of photos, choose the pictures that have Red Eye and double click it to open up another window that will allow you to edit that certain image. We have seen this window once or twice before, but this time we will use another feature that Picasa has to offer.

The “Basic Fixes” window is a very popular tool in Picasa, so you will be using it a lot. Towards the left side of the window you will see the buttons Crop or Recrop, Straighten, and “Red Eye”. The Red Eye button is the one you want to choose for this particular project. Along with the buttons you see will also be the image you have double clicked on the right. Once you have everything set, please click the Red Eye button on the left side of the screen.

A new window has opened up along with your image. This is where precision comes into play, but it’s not too tough. Go over to the image and click on one of the eyes, drag the little box over the eye and let go of the mouse button. After a few seconds of delay, the software will recognize the image and remove the Red Eye from the picture. Do this with the other eye and once you are happy with the results, you may hit Apply and your image is all set.
