Many people have old photos or images in their homes, but many of those photos either don't have much color, or they are losing most of their color due to aging, etc. Google Picasa will actually bring back much of the color, if not all of the color to just about any picture you have. Many Photo Editing programs are very expensive, especially the ones that do just about everything but Picasa is absolutely free and it has most of the features that many of the more expensive programs have. First you need to open up the Picasa program on your computer. Wait for the software to load and continue on to the next step.
Once you have opened up the program, please browse through all of your images so that you can choose which one you would like to improve. Basically you can consider improving the photo using Sepia as a glorified Sharpen feature. This will really make a huge difference in the way your image looks. Once you have found your image, click it. You will notice a blue rectangle around the image you have chosen, once you have selected it, move onto the next step please.
Once you have selected the image, double click it so you can access the "Basic Fixes" screen, something we have seen plenty of times. Please go over to the left side of the window, which is next to your image, and click the "Effects" tab. As we have seen in previous tutorials, there will be a bunch of options. We want the "Sepia" option, and as you can see, it is right next to the "Sharpen" option, it's only a bit stronger in image quality.
If you want the image to increase in quality, keep on clicking the "Sepia" tab, stop once you have reached where you want the image to be. If you feel that you have gone too far, you may click the "Undo Sepia" button at the bottom of the window. You can do this with just about any option in the "Basic Fixes" window. I hope you enjoy this feature as it is very important to learn if you want to improve your more dull images.
