I really enjoy this feature of Picasa because it really defines your image greatly. Consider this a way to convert your image into High Definition, in a way of course. In order to start, please open up Google Picasa and wait for it to load. You will be greeted once again with your database of images that you have saved and stored on your hard drive. Once the program is opened up, please move on to the next step…
This next step is your decision, so please browse through your entire database of images until you have found the exact image or images that you want to fine tune or highlight. You can edit more than one, but for now only choose one as this is what the tutorial will assist you in only. Double click the image you want to highlight, and then move onto the next step please.
Once you have double clicked the image, a new window will pop up in a few moments. As I have said in previous tutorials, you will see the Basic Fixes window numerous times, as this is where most of the tools for Picasa are. To the left of the image you want to fine tune is another button called tuning, click it. You can fool around with this feature as much as you want because there are plenty of options. You can really mess with an image and make it look even more real than it already is, but for now just adjust the “Fill Light” and “Highlights”. If an image is too dark, you can definitely make it lighter, especially if you are using a camera with no flash.
If you want to make an image look more realistic and dramatic, you can play around with the “Highlights” slider and it will do the work for you. If you move it more to the right, it will make an image more detailed; more to the left will make it less detailed. Whatever the case may be, you will really have some fun this feature, it will definitely make your images look a lot better when you print them out.
